About Sand

Sand is the simplest thing on The Gamepire: a full field of sand, lit by a low sun, waiting for your finger. Press and drag and a real groove opens up, with the sand you push aside rising into soft ridges and slumping where it is too steep. The sound comes from real recordings of sand and follows your hand, soft when you go slowly and rushing when you go fast. There is no score and no goal. Draw a line, a spiral or your name, save it as a picture if you like, then let the wind smooth it all away.

How to play

1. DrawPress and drag through the sand. Nothing moves until you press. On a phone you can draw with several fingers.
2. Open the settingsThe small ring in the corner opens the settings. It hides itself when you are not using it.
3. Change your strokeSize sets how wide your finger is, from a fine line to a broad furrow.
4. Start againSmooth sends a breath of wind across the sand. Save keeps your drawing as a picture first.

Tips from the usta

• Use headphones and draw slowly to hear the grains.
• Parallel lines with a small Size look like a raked Zen garden.
• Draw back over a groove to deepen its edges.
• Spirals catch the low sun beautifully.
