About Word Search
A minimal word search with nothing in the way: a grid of letters, a list of words and a clock. Drag across a word or tap its first and last letter to circle it. Choose from eight topics, from animals to space, and four difficulties, from an 8×8 grid that only reads across and down to a 15×15 grid where words run in every direction and near-misses are planted to fool you. Every puzzle is new, the words follow the site language, and fast, hint-free solves score best.

How to play
- Pick a puzzleChoose a difficulty and a topic, or leave the topic on Mixed for a surprise.
- Find a wordDrag from the first letter to the last, or tap the first letter and then the last.
- Watch the directionsEasy words read across and down. Medium adds diagonals, and Hard and Expert words can run backwards too.
- Finish fastEach word scores by its length. Finish under par for a time bonus, and save your three hints for when you are stuck.
Tips from the usta
- Look for rare letters first, like Z, J or Q. They stand out in the grid and often sit inside a word.
- Scan one row at a time for a word’s first letter, then check the eight squares around each match.
- On Expert, some words appear with their last letter missing. Check the whole word before you let go.
- Hints cost points, but a slow finish costs more. If you are stuck for a minute, use one.
- Harder levels multiply every point, so one quick Expert puzzle beats several easy ones on the leaderboard.
